Compared to an earlier visit three months ago, the 299 Fremont site has been transformed from a dirt trench to an active construction site filled with concrete and reinforced steel. Crews are currently setting up the complex’s foundations and basement floors for the 32 story tower and adjacent low rise buildings. The 409 unit project is split into two phases with the first phase expected to be completed in either late 2015 or early 2016. Phase two, which includes an additional 136 subsidized affordable units, will start once phase one is completed.
The site resides in the revitalized Transbay neighborhood surrounding other construction sites including the Transbay Terminal, 181 Fremont, 201 Folsom, SalesForce Tower and the Rincon Hill developments.
